About Own Your Dough

Meet the team dedicated to making financial literacy accessible to everyone

Hey everyone! We're the team behind Own Your Dough, and we're so glad you're here. We're a group of friends who, despite our diverse backgrounds, share a common passion: empowering people to take control of their financial lives.

Our story began during our days at the University of California, Berkeley. While most of our peers were focused on, well, not thinking about the future, we found ourselves engrossed in discussions about budgeting, investing, and the ever-evolving world of personal finance. We realized that this stuff, which seemed so fascinating to us, felt like a foreign language to many of our friends.

We saw firsthand how financial uncertainty could cause stress and limit opportunities. Friends struggled with student loan debt, worried about saving for the future, and felt overwhelmed by the sheer complexity of it all. We knew there had to be a way to bridge this gap.

That's why we created Own Your Dough. We wanted to build a platform that would break down complex financial concepts into easily digestible, actionable advice. We envision a community where everyone feels confident managing their money, regardless of their background or income level.

We're not your typical financial advisors in suits. We're real people who understand the challenges of navigating today's financial landscape. Here's a little more about us:

  • Jordan, for example, works as a Marketing Manager at Salesforce.
  • Avery is a Software Engineer at Google.
  • Riley is a Data Analyst at Kaiser Permanente.
  • Rahul and Ravi are Financial Analysts at Charles Schwab.

We juggle our day jobs with our passion for Own Your Dough, working from our base in San Francisco. We believe that this gives us a unique perspective. We're not just talking about finance in theory; we're living it, too. We understand the pressures of balancing work, life, and financial goals.

We believe that financial literacy is a fundamental life skill, and we're committed to making it accessible to everyone through relatable content, practical tools, and a supportive community.

Our goal is simple: to help you make sense of your dollars. Whether you're just starting your financial journey or looking to take your finances to the next level, we're here to guide you every step of the way.

We're excited to have you join us on this journey to financial empowerment!
